Simple Korean-Style Spicy Pork Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) pork shoulder or pork butt, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Step 1. In a bowl, mix the gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and grated ginger to make the marinade.
  2. Step 2. Add the sliced pork to the marinade and toss well. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes while you prep the other ingredients.
  3. Step 3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Step 4. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion to the pan and cook until the onion starts to soften, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Step 5. Add the marinated pork and cook, stirring frequently, until the pork is cooked through and starts to caramelize, about 7-8 minutes.
  6. Step 6. Stir in the chopped green onions and cook for another minute.
  7. Step 7. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
  8. Step 8. Serve the spicy pork over steamed rice.
